We Destroy the Earths Beauty

Sun set
Bathed in beauty
Colors extraordinary
Purple clouds
With a touch of pink at the edges
A reddish hue above my head
I smile

As the sun slowly slides below the horizon
Taking its gift of color
The moon appearing from behind a cloud
Lifting everything in a purlie light
Soft
It caresses the leaves that gently wave in the breeze
I smile

The sound of crickets
And rustling branches
A symphony like no one could ever create
A choir of crickets begins to sing
I smile

A sharp screech drowns them out
Headlights whip around the corner
Showering everything in its artificial light
Destroying the illusion of the moon
Another hunk of metal behind it
The noise of engines
And loud music
I sigh
And go back inside
